Pro Bono

If you are giving it away, we will too.

New York encourages attorneys to complete a certain number of pro bono hours each year. While it is not a requirement for us, we choose to take on pro bono work because it allows us to support individuals and projects that might not otherwise have access to legal services. It also gives us the opportunity to work on meaningful and socially valuable projects.

If you are creating something intended to be shared freely with the world, we can help you do that. This may include licensing your work through Creative Commons, copyleft frameworks, or open-source software and hardware models.

Patents and copyrights are powerful tools for protecting creative and technical work, but they are not always the right fit. In some cases, allowing ideas to remain open and freely accessible can be the most effective way for them to grow and spread.
